Diary - 2 weeks to go!
It looks amazing!
Date: 26-04-03
We had quite a few things to do today, and the whole thing kicked off with a chat with the
landscape gardener at our place (we want to sort out the basics of the garden this year - hey,
we don't do things by halves, you know!). Then we wandered over to the Orchard to see them
about menu choices and stuff.
They were setting up for a wedding that day, as it happened. A person who Katherine sort of
knows, too, which was quite freaky. We wandered around for a bit and then sat down and chatted
to the people there - finalising all the last minor details and confirming stuff we've already
decided on. We handed over the menu choices, showed them all the stuff that they're going to
have on the table and then took a wander around the Orchard - it loooked absolutely gorgeous
with the sun beating down on us and all the blossom all over the place.
We took a break from the wedding stuff in the afternoon and decided to have a bit of a play
with the new tandem. Quite slow going, but that was because we'd travel a few hundred yards
and have to stop because we needed to tweak seatpost or handlebar positions - it's a v fiddly
process! Good fun, though.

Loads to do!
Date: 25-04-03
A few emails were flying between me and the stationers today - just sorting out the last few
layout tweaks in the Order of Service. I said that we could let them know if the latest version
will be the final version by Monday, and they seemed quite happy with that. They even mentioned
the possibility of us having everything printed and delivered by the following weekend!
I printed out the latest version and cut it down to size. That way, we can show the vicar
pretty much how it will be when we see him on Sunday evening.
Lots to do this weekend - we're seeing the Orchard tomorrow to hand over the menu choices for
the guests, and talk through the finer details. Then we're seeing the florist at some point to
hand over all the vases and things. Oh, and we've got to find some time to play with the new
tandem :)

Readers #2 and it's T-day!
Date: 24-04-03
Katherine phoned her Canadian friend at 6.30 this morning (10.30pm last night their time?) to
ask her about doing a reading at the wedding, and she said yes, too. WooHoo! That's that
sorted then.
I got an email from the music director this afternoon, too, telling us the name of the final
person to play an instrument during the service. That was the last bit of info we needed before
letting the stationers know, so I emailed them just before lunch, and I had an updated pdf
version of the Order of Service by 3pm. I printed it off and chopped it down to size so that
we can check it out before giving them the go ahead.
It's lucky we got quite a few things sorted today as the tandem arrived this morning while we
were at work. We both rushed home as fast as we could and played around with it for most of the
evening.

Banns #2
Date: 23-04-03
Katherine spoke to one of the Bridesmaids to ask her if she wanted to do one of the readings at
our wedding for us. She said yes, which is great! We've asked one of Katherine's Canadian friends
to do the other, but she hasn't replied to our email yet. I think we're going to have to phone
her about it as we do really need to get the changes off to the stationers so they can prepare it
for printing.
Managed to contact the vicar at Meldreth church today about our banns certificate. The
final banns to be read at Meldreth should have been Sunday just gone. Everything went well
apparently (no impediments), so I've arranged to go and collect the certificate from him
next week. :)
It's getting to that point where lots of things are brewing now - the calm before the storm, almost.
Most of it seems to be planned for Saturday, like seeing the Orchard about final menu choices,
numbers and drinks, and we're seeing the florist.
Tomorrow night will be a welcome distraction. Tomorrow is T-day......
Tandem day.....our nice shiny blue tandem arrives from the shop :) WooHoo!

Cars, music and bits of paper
Date: 22-04-03
Back to work froma nice looooong weekend. Ah well. First thing on the list was to send the
cheques off to the band and the wedding cars to pay the remaining balance. We also sent
another invite to the friend who's just come back from Ghana - the one who didn't get the
original invite.
We popped over to see the vicar at Katherine's parish church in Cherry Hinton in the
evening - he'd contacted Katherine last week to say that the banns certificate was ready
for collection. They're slightly taller than a cheque, and they even come in a book like
a cheque, where you have to fill in the counterfoil and everything! Katherine wrote a cheque
out to pay him for it, and we left him to tend to his potatos boiling away in the kitchen.
So...one banns certificate down, one more to go (Meldreth) and then we're allowed to get
married. WooHoo!

Placenames
Date: 21-04-03
Another day of "housey" stuff, and we spent a bit of time checking out hotels and B&Bs for
one of Katherine's Canadian friends. I hope other people coming to the wedding have already
booked their hotels as it sounds like it's a graduation weekend the same weekend as the
wedding.
To round the day off, we spent quite a bit of time getting some of the placenames done -
they're a bit fiddly to do (you'll find out why later), but we managed to rattle off three
tables' worth as well as cooking some tea. Only six more tables to go! We had to do a bit of
table reshuffling as well as we realised some people may need a bit more access.

We've got one!
Date: 20-04-03
Checked the emails today and had a reply from the music director saying that we have a
vocalist for the ceremony! WooHoo! At least there's more chance of getting people singing
along during the less-well-known songs.
We had a go at arranging the order of people on the tables for the reception this evening.
It wasn't as bad as we thought it would be, although there's always the odd one or two who
you just don't know what to do with. It'll probably change at some point!
We checked the photographer's website last thing and saw that the engagement photos were
up there! Sifting through the 50-odd photos we managed to narrow it down to about 6 or so.
It's a shame that my smile looks so stupid in all of them! Katherine was worried that her hair
wasn't quite right, but I though it looked great.....like the rest of her :)

Email us. Go on! You
know you want to.
