Diary - 20 weeks to go!
Wedding rings
Date: 21-12-02
We made a little detour from our Christmas shopping to pick up our wedding rings this morning :)
Any excuse. Trying them on in the shop, it felt really weird slipping a ring on a finger that's
never had one (I only wear one on the other hand, and Katherine, well, the engagement ring,
obviously!). 4mm plain platinum court band for me and a 2.5mm plain platinum court (of a different
type to mine) band for Katherine.
Katherine was a little unsure with hers, what with it being slightly rounded, and her engagement
ring being a more rectangular profile, but she started getting used it later on in the day. They've
told us to have a go at wearing them at home, to get used to them - make sure they're the right
size and shape for us, but I think Katherine's taken this a bit too literally....she can't stop
playing with it! Women!

Stationary
Date: 19-12-02
I finally got round to sending off some stuff by email to the stationary people - I know it's a
bit too close to Christmas to get stuff done, but it was something to get the ball rolling.
We've only sent them pictures of the church (we want an artist's impression of it on the front
of the order of service and the invitations) and some instructions of what sizes we're after.
Oh, and we've asked them for some more samples of the types and colours of paper they do - it
wasn't too clear what we actually got in the original sample pack.
We've sort of settled on the wording, but we were too scared to send that off now :) We'll
wait for them to tell us when they need it....just to be sure that we've got it right.

Shiny things and places to stay
Date: 18-12-02
Had a phonecall from the jewelers this morning to let me know that the wedding rings have
arrived at the shop! WooHoo! That didn't take long at all - we only ordered them on the 7th!
We'll probably try and pick them up on the weekend - we'll probably be in town doing
Christmas shopping anyway.
I managed to book a place for the first night of our accomodation. We only need somewhere
to stay the night before we drive off to the cottage for a week. We're thinking of checking
in in another place on the way back, and then heading back to where we started for a couple
of nights before heading home. We'll see.
The hotel looks really nice, though. And we've gone for one of their posh rooms - jacquzi
bath, fluffy bathrobes, large room...the works. Can't wait :) Much needed relaxation after
the exhaustion of the previous day, no doubt.

Rewrite
Date: 17-12-02
We sat down together and went through the wording of the invitations that I came up with.
I didn't really have a clue what to write when I did them, but I knew it was too formal.
Looking through all the invitations we've received over the last couple of years, we
decided to go for a completely informal invitation - we're inviting people (which Katherine's
dad is fine about), so it looks more like a "Hey! How's it going? Fancy coming to our
wedding? Great!" type of thing than a "Such and such request the pleasure of your
company as they marry...blah blah blah". It's just not our style.
Another late night, but at least that's another thing to (sort-of) tick off the list. Just
got to send all the stuff to the stationers now. Must try and get that done before
Christmas....

Email us. Go on! You
know you want to.
