Diary - 26 weeks to go!
Red Wednesday
Date: 06-11-02
I've found a place that can provide us with three chauffeur driven silver E-class Mercs with
all the ribbons and stuff for a fairly reasonable price (well, as reasonablly priced as
wedding cars can be). I think we'd already decided that we were going to go for the three
extra cars (on top of the Bently for us) option, just for convenience sake. And I don't think
the parents will whinge about travelling in style around Cambridge :)
We finally sat down and worked through a budget (of sorts) tonight - I think it was the price
of the cars that prompted it.
Adding up all the things we know the price of and using the price guides for stuff we haven't
even begun to think of yet (like stationary, flowers etc) from a website, it was a bit of a
shock to see the final figure. And that didn't include the honeymoon or hen/stag doos. Hmmm.

How many cars?
Date: 05-11-02
There's just no easy way of doing this. It's either two extra cars and letting the ushers and
their partners or the parents fend for transport themselves; or get another car and get them
all there in style. The former is a faff because they'd have to scrounge lifts or get taxis,
either of which could take too long. The latter could be quite expensive.

Cars
Date: 04-11-02
Thought we were leaving it a bit late to find a car for the day, but after phoning around loads of
places today, there didn't seem to be any problem at all. Loads were available. The only problem
was finding something we did like.
Now Katherine, when we spoke about this, didn't seem that bothered what we had, but we both agreed
that the "traditional" 1920's crank-the-engine-by-hand style of car wasn't for us. Hmmm....I'd seen
a nice car at the only wedding fair I'd been to - a Bentley. It's a bit different to a Roller, which
99% of the wedding car hire firms seem to have. I did a bit of searching and found a place that does
one of these in blue. It's not cheap, but, hey, it's a one-off
and we should be able to afford it (I say "should" since we haven't actually sat down and done a
budget yet. D'oh!).
What do we do with the rest of the wedding crew though? How are they going
to get around? The whole faff comes about because we've got to get the crew, our parents and a few
hangers-on from the hotel to the church, and then from the church to the reception in time to do
to do the photos. The venues are in a bit of a 30-minute triangle around Cambridge, and that's where
the problem lies - we can't re-use any of the cars ie to do multiple journeys; because there just isn't
enough time. Leaving the wedding crew to get to the venue on their own accord could end in disaster.
Extra cars from the Bentley place are pretty expensive, so that's not really an option. Hmmm....
