Wedding 2 Date: 15-03-03 Today was wedding number two for this year - a friend of ours from ringing. It's been quite a stressful time for all concerened what with wedding dress shinanigans, rings and other things, but they've both seemed remarkably calm as the day got closer. The venue was Knebworth house, in the barns conference centrey bit. The majority of the guests were staying at the Novotel next to the A1. Knebworth house is absolutely gorgeous, and the weather couldn't have been better - clear blue skies, sun shining down. Lovely. The whole thing kicked off around 2.30 with a civil ceremony in one of the barns - Kath waltzed in to the room, beaming, and Chris collected her from the door (unusual, but a nice touch). Then it was out into the gardens by the house for loads of photos (ok, so the weather wasn't *that* perfect as there was quite a chilly wind) and then back into the other barn for reception drinks while the barn the ceremony took place in was rearranged for the sit down meal. Those who could ring bells trooped over to the church next to the house and did some ringing - including Kath. When we got back to the barns, we managed to catch up with the photographer before she left - Kath was the person who recommended the photographer to us in the first place. We managed to get a few things organised about meeting up at the reception to check things out. Shame she won't be able to do the photographs herself - we're getting her business partner as she's heavily pregnant at the moment and due about two weeks after our wedding. She might pop along if she feels particularly mobile, though. After the rather good sit down meal there were three quite emotional speeches, and then we were all hearded back into the barn with the bar for drinking and dancing to a ceileigh band. They were only a three-piece, but they were really good! A couple of beers later, and everyone was up on the dancefloor swinging their partners, promonading, weaving and galloping. I don't think I did any dosey-dosing, though. Well, not intentionally anyway. The (very) happy couple left a little bit before 11.30 with the whole crowd waving them off with sparklers. The whole thing ended quite rapidly after that. I think a handful of us stayed a little bit longer, and we were the last to leave at about 11.50 after much hilarity doing helium-voices using some of the ballooons strewn around. Don't do it kids - it's not big and it's not clever. But it's *really* funny. A top day, for sure. We hope ours goes so smoothly!
