Diary - 25 weeks to go!

Decision made!
Date: 14-11-02

The picture of the car arrived this morning - wanna see it? Well, you'll have to wait until I get permission from the owner. I'm taken by it - I knew there was something about it that grabbed me when I saw it for real. I phoned him up pretty much straight away and gave him all the info he needed for us to book it. He also mentioned something about doing us a deal with the other three cars that we want. That sounded interesting....

He phoned back towards the end of the day and he could provide the same three cars (silver E-Class Mercs) for less than the quote from the other company. Bargain! Thought I'd better run it passed Katherine first, though, before shouting "we'll take them!".

Phoned up the band as well to confirm the date. They're going to send us a contract in the post. WooHoo!

Those wheels?
Date: 13-11-02

I've been phoning the (older) Bentley bloke so many times that we're on first name terms now. Today's questions were about the wheels and what needed doing if we wanted this car. "Wheels?", you may ask....well, I'm a bit fussy when it comes to cars, and the only photo I've managed to find of a '90/'91 Bentley Turbo R had the roughest looking wheels around. Not the sort of thing you'd expect a car costing 10's of thousands of pounds to have. They looked like hub-caps. Surely there was a reason that this car caught my eye when I first saw it? Hmmm....

He assured me that the wheels on his car were decent, and he said he'd email me some pictures of the actual car. Nice :)

Had a package come through from a wedding stationary company. We quite like what they have on offer - we're thinking of having a simpe sketch of our church on the front of an A5 or A6 booklet for both the invitations and order of service. I thought choosing cars was bad enough, but you should see the choice of paper size, paper colour, paper material, fonts, font colour etc...as you might've guessed (or know) by now, we're not the most decisive of people.

The new! Or should it be the old?
Date: 12-11-02

More car dilemas. After we decided that we were going to go for the new Bentley (and pay a lot for it), I've found a place locally that has a 90's Bentley Turbo R that's available. It's less than ½ the price of the new Bentley, to hire.

I've only been able to find some ropey pictures of someone elses' Turbo R on the internet that don't really inspire me with confidence, but I remember it catching my eye at the one and only wedding fair I've been to.

New? Or old?
Old? Or new?

Two things are proving a problem with the newer one....a) It's expensive (over twice the price of the older one), and b) It's a bit of a nightmare trying to organise to see it in the flesh as it were.

Forms, forms, forms
Date: 11-11-02

Another meeting with Steve-the-vicar from our church this evening. The last time we both went to see him was that time where things didn't go according to plan. Hmmm. Ah well, things have been sorted now, so that's not a problem.

It was a sort of pre pre-marriage-guidance meeting, for him to hand us the necessary forms (church electoral role - we've not joined it properly yet even though we've been going for a while - and wedding bands), some books, some pamphlets and a mock-timetable of what's going to happen in the 6 months before and after the wedding in terms of meeting with couples who've been married for ages, and others who've been married about a year. Should be interesting.

So, yes, the date is confirmed. We need to speak to other church people now about things like getting the bells, the music and deciding who out of the four vicars who work there we want to marry us. I think we'd already decided, but I won't say anything until we've asked the person. Hopefully this Sunday evening after the service.

Things are starting to come together now :)
