Diary - 13 weeks to go!
Card type
Date: 06-02-03
I phoned the stationary people today to let them know the final choice of card
material and colour. They're going to wait until we get some more wording to them
for some other stuff before they go ahead and do the print run for the invitations.
We can't do the order of service yet as we haven't met with the vicar about it yet!
But we have arranged a date to do that.

Transport
Date: 05-02-03
We've been checking the flights for our honeymooon on-line occasionally, but today
we finally decided to just take the plunge and book the flights. Already the ideal
flights have been taken off the lists, so we've been left with early morning or
late afternoon, and the prices have gone up from when we first checked around the
time of booking one of the first hotels. We decided on the late afternoon flights
as this would give us more time to faff in the morning (as Mr and Mrs Probert!) and
say goodbye to people before heading off straight from the hotel.
So....all that's left for the honeymoon now is the other form of transport - a hire
car.

Early bed
Date: 04-02-03
When we normally order things from large shops, the items take absolutely ages to
be delivered. The sofas, for example, took around 12 weeks (although one of them
had to be built to order, so we'll let that go), and the fridge/freezer.....well,
don't get me started on that, but it took over two months for that to be delivered -
it arrived just before I started my new job. Talk about cutting it fine.
So....now we come to the bed we ordered from Habitat. We would be quite happy if
this thing took ages to be delivered as we're not going to use it until after
we're married. Loads of time. But Katherine got a call from them today saying that
they can deliver it this week! Noooooo!
When she said it wasn't convenient, she was hoping that the next available
delivery day would be next month at least. No.....next week. Argh! We can't really
stall them, so we're going to have to have the thing delivered and just let it sit
flat-pack in the house for a few months. We shouldn't complain, really, as at least
we're going to have a bed in time!

Cards and stuff
Date: 03-02-03
Finally got some stuff though the post today after last week's 4" of snow.
The stationary people have sent us some samples of card for the outer covers
of our invitations and order of services. I think we've decided which colour and type
we want to go for, but we'll give it some more thought, just in case. We'll let them
know later on in the week.
Katherine also received a box at work today, with all the things-that-we're-not-going-
to-mention that we orderd on-line the other night. WooHoo!

Wedding fair....oh no!
Date: 02-02-03
We'd heard from someone who'd emailed this site that there was going to be a wedding
fair at Chilford Hall (one of the venues we checked out for the reception, as it
happened) today, so we headed over there after our usual Sunday morning stuff.
Blimey! The place was packed! The car park was full (and muddy), and there were so
many people milling around the collection of stands spread throughout three function
rooms. I'd say that out of the people there, 90% of them were women. When we arrived,
they were all standing/sitting around the stage in the main room watching models
parading brides and bridesmaids dresses and groom's stuff. We weaved our way through
the crowd trying to get a look at the stalls (Katherine's attention was diverted to
the stage a lot of the time) to see what was on offer.
Cakes, photographers, mens hire, dress shops, favour stands, car hire, hair and
makeup artists, entertainment..... you name it, they were here. Pretty impressive.
But I can't say we saw anything that we hadn't already organised, or anything that
we liked for the stuff we hadn't. One of the things we were keeping an eye open for
was stuff for the tables (affectionately labelled "table chaff" in the budget),
but there wasn't much of that around.
We did manage to see the wedding car we've hired though, which
was good as we hadn't seen it in-the-metal, as it were, since before we went ahead
and booked the thing! The bloke who owns it was as chatty as ever.

Busy busy busy!
Date: 01-02-03
Blimey! We managed to get loads done today.
The day started off with us heading over to the Orchard to speak about menus and things.
We've let them know our choices, and told them all the details that we could think of -
toasts, reception drinks, timing, how we want things set up etc etc. We hadn't
quite decided what wine were going to have on the tables (there's only so much you can
make from a description on paper), so they handed us a bottle of one the reds and a bottle
of one of the whites we'd highlighted from the list. The red certainly went down a treat in
the evening, so we'll have to do the white tomorrow :) I must say, though, that the
organisers at the Orchard the are the most helpful, friendly and kind people you could
ever imagine. We highly recommend them!
After the Orchard, we wizzed into town to get a few bits of shopping done. We managed to
buy all the disposable cameras from Boots and bumped into our florist -
she's recently bought a shop stall in Cambridge - which was handy as we needed to speak to
her about when she could pop along to the church with us to check things out.
We popped into Habitat, too, to buy our bed :) My parents are buying us a bed as a present
and have given us the money so we can go ahead and order it. We thought that as we were
in town, we may as well buy it then. It wasn't until we were filling out the order forms
that we found out that it just so happened to be the penultimate day of a 15% off offer.
Bargain! So we went ahead and bought some matching bedside tables, too. For those who are
interested, it's the same bed that was featured in the last "Celebrity Big Brother",
apparently. Although we knew it before it became famous. We just hope that it'll take a
while to be delivered as we're not going to use it before the wedding. If it turns up
early, we're just going to have to leave it flatpack until after the wedding!

Email us. Go on! You
know you want to.
