Diary - 21 weeks to go!

Wording
Date: 13-12-02

Had a go at wording the invitations today. Hmmm....I can't say I'm that fussed with what I've come up with, and I've got a feeling that Katherine will think it's too formal, which, to be honest, is true. I checked out some wedding websites and sort of amalgamated what they had. Inspiration is a bit lacking, this close to Christmas.....

Parking space
Date: 11-12-02

Had an email from the secretary type person in our church, telling me that I need to speak to the police about the parking space they have resereved for weddings and funerals and things. I take it I'll need to find the number of the local police station and call that, instead of 999.....that would be quite embarrassing.

She's also confirmed that 1pm has been put in the diary for the wedding :) WooHoo!

Marriage preparation 101
Date: 09-12-02

Neither of us were sure what to expect tonight, but it was quite good. It was more of a "getting to know you" type thing than "let's talk about this situation and see how you argue about it with each other". There are other sessions organised through our church that we need to attend, but they're not until next year.

So, after all the meet'n'greet stuff, we sat down to a nice meal (chicken dinner pretty much). We talked about general stuff - where we met, what we do, our families etc - got to know the couple who will be guiding us through the whole preparation thing. Then after a really nice dessert (chocolate cake thing with ice cream) we got down to some Bible stuff - readings and discussions.

On the whole, it was a good evening....firstly because it's making the marriage thing feel a bit more real (and closer!), and seconndly because it was a nice step-back from the hectic hubub of our lives at the moment.

The next session with the couple isn't until January/February, and the first of the marriage seminars isn't until March (the day after another friend's wedding up in South Yorkshire), so we've got a bit more time to do some more reading of our own.
